DESCRIPCIÓN

Podemos iniciar la ruta dejando los coches en el camping Tajo Rodillo y avanzar a pie unos centenares de metros por la carretera hasta el cercano lugar de salida. 

También podemos hacer este trayecto en coche, aparcándolo, ya en Grazalema, cuando la A-372 se introduce en el pueblo y regresar a pie hasta encontrar el primero de los senderos de acceso.

Los lugares a visitar serán por este orden: monumento al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús (El Santo).

Ermita del Calvario, caídas hacia los cortados de Peñaloja, puerto de Retacapas, Cancho de la Bejeruela, Cueva de las dos Puertas y Cruz del Picacho.

Como ya habremos visto desde la carretera El Santo, la intuición nos indicará el mejor de los senderos a seguir y en pocos minutos estaremos en este mirador, desde el que contemplar Grazalema y todo su entorno: Peñón Grande, sierra del Pinar, Monte Prieto… 

Regresamos buscando la ermita del Calvario que pronto encontraremos; se trata de una construcción del siglo XVIII que domina el caserío, y a la que llegaba un Vía Crucis que partía desde el núcleo urbano. Su declive se produjo tras los daños sufridos por un incendio en febrero del 36 y durante la Guerra Civil.

Cumplimentada la visita, iniciaremos una respetable subida por la ladera, buscando una vereda que, si la hierba es abundante, nos costará encontrar entre las grandes rocas y el pinar de repoblación. 

Una vez localizada continuamos dirección SE, a media ladera y siempre con tendencia a subir. Encontraremos miradores que nos muestran el valle del inmaduro Guadalete y la ribera de Gaidovar.

 Con extremo cuidado cruzaremos las caídas hacia los Cortados de Peñaloja, lugar con una fuerte inclinación perpendicular a nuestro sentido de la marcha e inundado de gravilla suelta, con escasas posibilidades de agarre en caso de resbalón. Hemos superado los 1.100 m de altura, el horizonte sigue ampliándose, ahora hacia Los Alamillo y el río Gaduares o Campobuche. Nos abrimos paso a través de pequeñas dolinas, pinos, rascaviejas y majuelos hasta encontrar el puerto de Retacapas, donde deberíamos torcer a la derecha buscando la cueva. Nosotros aconsejamos asomarnos antes hacia el SE desde un roquedo cercano, bajar al verdadero puerto en la antesala del Cancho de la Bejeruela e incluso subir a su cima (1.194 m). 

Regresamos, trepando por la misma grieta de bajada, tomamos dirección NO, siempre entre pinos y roquedos de todos los tamaños. Si vamos atentos a la derecha o al track que facilitamos en Wikiloc veremos una pequeña covacha a nuestra derecha, casi cerrada su boca por un respetable pino. 

El sendero acaba por encontrar la cresta de este pequeño macizo y estaremos en un lugar de gran belleza: al fondo se recorta la sierra del Pinar, pequeña por la lejanía y a nuestra izquierda los grandes cerros del Endrinal que volveremos a ver desde la cueva. Continuamos cruzando lapiaces guiados por algún hito y flechas amarillas hasta que ante nosotros aparece otra vez la presa del Fresnillo y algunas casas de Grazalema; es el momento de torcer bruscamente a la derecha y seguir las marcas hasta dar con la cueva, procurando no superarla por encima de su techo.

 Retrocedemos hasta encontrar el sendero que traíamos e iniciamos un largo descenso. En esta zona es fácil perderse por no quedar claro el trazado de la ruta. No debemos continuar cresteando, sino descender hacia la derecha. Sin ninguna referencia que podamos indicar desde aquí (salvo el track y algún hito que dejamos) recomendamos acercarnos a la Cruz del Picacho, 

para ello, sin ver la cruz al principio, avanzaremos por un tortuoso paisaje cárstico hasta que advirtamos su parte superior; ahora nos orientaremos mejor y en un momento nos asomaremos al mirador. Otra vez regresaremos al sendero para zigzaguear en bajada por un amplio canchal, adentrarnos en un pinar donde encontraremos un cruce que nos encamina hacia Grazalema. Llegaremos a la altura del camping.

ASPECTOS DE INTRERÉS

Paisaje natural. Estamos en la zona NO de la sierra del Endrinal; desde ella dominaremos un amplio entorno hacia el valle del Guadalete al principio de nuestra ruta, veremos en la lejanía el complejo Mojón Alto-Líbar y sierra Peralto desde Retacapas, dominaremos los grandes cerros del Endrinal desde la crestería y cueva, otearemos todos los rincones de

Grazalema desde la Cruz del Picacho e incluso no faltará una buena panorámica de la sierra del Pinar, Monte Prieto, Lagarín, Malaver... 

Fauna. Zona dominada por los rebaños de cabras montesas,

 aves de roquedo como la collalba, buitres y rapaces sobrevolando el lugar, mamíferos depredadores como el zorro. 

Flora. Amplio dominio de varias especies de pinos de repoblación que solo desaparecen en la crestería y zonas más rocosas. Sotobosque formado por matagallos, rascaviejas, majuelos, piornos, cornicabras, lastones, especies rupícolas y una amplia variedad de herbáceas: marrubios, gramíneas de montaña, peonías, amapolas de Grazalema…

 Aspectos socioeconómicos. No detectamos presencia humana ni de ganadería en la zona, salvo ya en las cercanías de Grazalema. 

PARADAS Y LUGARES DE INTERÉS · El Santo (928 m). Monumento al Sagrado Corazón en pleno cerro calizo al que se llega por un sendero labrado sobre la misma roca. La típica imagen de Jesús se levanta a gran altura sobre un monolito prismático. Paneles informativos. · Ermita del Calvario (910 m). Un panel muy deteriorado nos informa de las características de esta antigua ermita semidestruida desde 1936. · Puerto de Retacapas y Cancho de la Bejeruela (1.189 m). 

Casi a mitad del circuito, es un buen lugar para admirar el paisaje hacia Líbar y las grandes oquedades que se han formado en la roca caliza.

· Cueva de las dos Puertas (1.227 m). Arco natural de piedra caliza con un pequeño refugio en su concavidad mayor, probablemente aprovechado por pastores o cazadores. Se encuentra en el vértice de una crestería que apunta hacia Los Alamillos. El agua ha ido ahuecando el vientre de la piedra hasta abrir el vano que da vista a las dos vertientes. 

Hacia el noroeste, la línea de montañas del Pinar hasta el San Cristóbal, el Puerto de las Cumbres, el de Las Palomas, Las Lomas y Monte Prieto. Más lejos y aislados, el Lagarín y el Malaver. Abajo, Grazalema con el embalse del Fresnillo, sujeto por el Peñón de la Asamblea y el espectacular Tajo de la Ermita o Peñón Gordo, popularmente Cresta del Gallo. La abertura del Sur nos muestra lo más granado del Endrinal: Reloj, Simancón, Yedrales...

· Cruz del Picacho (1.115 m). Dos travesaños cilíndricos de madera de pino, sujetos por gruesas rocas presiden un gran saliente sobre Grazalema al que se llega por un tortuoso lapiaz.

CARACTERÍSTICAS DEL RECORRIDO

Hasta El Santo y la ermita del Calvario el sendero está muy transitado sin posibilidad de pérdida. Enlazar desde la ermita con el sendero que lleva al puerto de Retacapas cuesta cierto trabajo; cuando lo encontramos veremos que es una sencilla vereda poco marcada, incluso invisible en primavera. Desde Retacapas a la cueva predomina la roca, nuestra referencia serán los hitos y alguna señal realizada con pintura. Parecida es la bajada hacia Grazalema; sólo al final mejora el sendero entre el pinar.

DESCRIPTION

We can start the route leaving cars on the roller and go camping Tagus walk a few hundred meters down the road to the nearby place of departure.

We can also make this drive, aparcándolo as Grazalema, when the A-372 is introduced into the village and return on foot to find the first of the access paths.

Places to visit will be in this order: monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (The Holy).

Calvary Chapel, falls to the cut Peñaloja, Retacapas port, the Bejeruela Cancho, Cave of the two doors and Cruz del Picacho.

As we seen from the road, the Holy, intuition tells us the best paths to follow and within minutes we will be in this viewpoint from which to contemplate Grazalema and its surroundings: Rock Grande, Sierra del Pinar, Monte Prieto ...

Looking back to Calvary Chapel will soon find, this is an eighteenth century building overlooking the village, and which came a Via Crucis which started from the city center. Its decline came after damage by fire on February 36 and during the Civil War.

Completed the visit, we will initiate a respectable climb up the hillside, looking for a path that, if the grass is plentiful, we hardly find among large rocks and pine reforestation.

After locating continue towards SE, mid-slope and always with a tendency to rise. Find viewpoints that show the immature Guadalete Valley and the shores of Gaidovar.

 With extreme care falls to the cross of Peñaloja Cut, site of a strong inclination perpendicular to our direction of travel and flooded with loose gravel, with little chance of slip grip case. We have surpassed the 1,100 m in height, the horizon continues to expand now to Los Alamillo and the river Gaduares or Campobuche. We made our way through small sinkholes, pine and hawthorn rascaviejas to find Retacapas port, where we should turn right looking for the cave. We advise peek prior to the SE from a nearby rocky, down to the actual port on the eve of the Bejeruela Cancho and even climb to the summit (1,194 m).

We returned, clambering for the same crack-down, take NW provided through pines and rocks of all sizes. If we are attentive to the right or the track, provided in a small shack Wikiloc see on our right, almost closed his mouth for a respectable pine.

The trail ends to find the crest of this small mass and be in a place of great beauty: the background is the Sierra del Pinar cuts, small by the distance to our left the great hills of Endrinal be back to see from the cave. Sinkholes continue crossing a milestone and guided by the yellow arrows until before us appears again Fresno Dam and some houses of Grazalema, it's time to turn sharply right and follow the marks until you reach the cave, trying not overcome by above its ceiling.

 Go back to find the path that we had brought and began a long descent. This area is easily missed by not clear the route of the road. We should not continue cresteando, but down to the right. Without any reference that we can tell from here (except the track and a milestone that we) recommend approaching the Cruz del Picacho,

for it, without seeing the cross at first, by a tortuous advance karst landscape until we notice the top, now we will be guided better and at one point we asomaremos the lookout. Again we return to the trail zigzagging downhill on a wide scree, get into a pine forest where we find a crossing that leads us to Grazalema. Reach the height of camping.

ASPECTS INTRERÉS

Natural landscape. We are in the area NW of the Sierra del Endrinal, since it will dominate a large environment into the valley of Guadalete the beginning of our route, we will see in the distance High-Cairn complex and saw Líbar Peralto from Retacapas, will dominate the big hills of Endrinal from the crest and cave all over otearemos

Grazalema from the Cruz del Picacho and not even miss a good view of the Sierra del Pinar, Monte Prieto, Lagarín, Malaver ... Fauna. Area dominated by herds of goats, birds such as wheatear rocky, vultures and raptors flying over, mammalian predators such as foxes. Flora. Proficient in several species of pine stocking only disappear in the crest and rocky areas. Undergrowth of matagallos, rascaviejas, hawthorns, Piornos, terebinth, lastones, cliff-nesting species and a wide variety of herbaceous: marrubios, mountain grasses, peonies, poppies ... Socio-economic Grazalema. We did not detect human presence or livestock in the area except as near Grazalema.

STOPS AND PLACES OF INTEREST · The Saint (928 m). Monument to the Sacred Heart in the middle limestone hill which is reached by a trail carved on the rock. The typical image of Jesus is lifted high over a monolith prismatic. Information panels. · Calvary Chapel (910 m). A badly damaged panel informs us of the characteristics of this ancient chapel partially destroyed since 1936. · Port of Retacapas and Cancho of Bejeruela (1,189 m). About half of the circuit, is a good place to admire the scenery to Líbar and large cavities that have formed in the limestone.

· Cave of the two doors (1227 m). Natural arch of limestone with a small shelter in its concavity most probably used by shepherds or hunters. It is located at the top of a crest that points to Los Alamillos. Water has been hollowing the belly of the stone to open the vain that gives sight to the two sides. To the northwest, the line of mountains of Pinar to the San Cristobal, Puerto de las Cumbres, the Las Palomas, Las Lomas and Monte Prieto. Further and isolated, and Malaver Lagarín. Down with the reservoir Grazalema Fresnillo, subject to the Rock of the Assembly and the spectacular Tajo de la Ermita Rock Gordo, popularly Cresta del Gallo. The opening of the South shows the cream of Endrinal: Clock, Simancón, Yedrales ...

· Cross Picacho (1,115 m). Two cylindrical beams of pine, restrained by heavy rocks preside over a large projection on Grazalema which is reached by a winding lapiaz.

TRAVEL FEATURES

Up The Ghost and the Calvary Chapel of the trail is very busy with no possibility of loss. Link from the chapel to the path leading to the port of Retacapas takes some work, when we find it we will see that is a simple path slightly marked, even invisible in the spring. From the cave Retacapas predominant rock, our reference will be the milestones and any sign painted on. Similar is the descent to Grazalema, only improves end path between the pines.
